The FTSE/ASEAN Indices were launched by the five ASEAN exchanges
(Singapore Exchange, Bursa Malaysia, The Stock Exchange of Thailand, Jakarta Stock Exchange, The Philippines Stock Exchange)
and global index provider FTSE on 21 September 2005. The indices, covering the five ASEAN markets, are designed using international
standards, free float adjusted, and based on the Industry Classification Benchmark (ICB).
The indices comprise FTSE/ASEAN Benchmark Index and FTSE/ASEAN 40 tradable index.
The FTSE/ASEAN 40 index is calculated on a real-time basis from 9:00 am and the closing index is calculated at
6:00 pm (Singapore time). The FTSE/ASEAN benchmark index is calculated on end-of-day basis.

The FTSE/ASEAN Index is a market benchmark index designed to cover a broad group of stocks from the ASEAN markets.
Eligible markets for inclusion are those of Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.
Other markets may be added over time. The index is derived from the FTSE All World ASEAN Index,
part of the FTSE Global Equity Index Series.
The FTSE/ASEAN Index currently comprises 180 constituents, of which 51 are Singapore companies, representing a 44.4% weighting.
This index has a base value of 100 as at 31 Dec 1986, and is suitable for use by investors as a source of information
and measurement as well as the creation of a broad investment fund by issuers.

The FTSE/ASEAN 40 Index consists of the largest 40 companies
by full market value selected from the ASEAN markets within the FTSE All World Country Index,
subject to them passing a liquidity screen. Twelve of the 40 constituents are Singapore companies,
representing a 49.4% weighting. The index is a real-time tradable index, suitable for use as a
basis for both exchange-traded (ETFs, futures) and OTC derivative products. The index has a base value of 5000 as at 31 Dec 2004.
